The mussels (Mytilidae), commonly known as mussels or mussels (South America) are a family of bivalve molluscs of great economic and gastronomic. Like other bivalves, are filter feeders that live attached to the substrate. They only live in both marine and intertidal areas and coastal submerged areas around the world.
Just as they are collected and consumed by humans, marine mussels are attacked and eaten by starfish and predatory gastropods numerous species of the family Muricidae, as Nucella lapillus.
